Siren CallHorse Information
Registered Number: 1528
Nickname: Siren
Age: Two (Y12)
Breed: Thoroughbred
Colour & Markings: Bay | right fore sock & rear stockings
Height: 15.2 hands
Gender: Filly
Personality: Siren is a filly who clearly does not take after her mother in the respect that she does not detest humans but welcomes them into her area - as long as it is on her terms. She likes attention, she likes fuss, and she likes treats but if she feels you are taking advantage of that she is not afraid to remind you that she is a powerful animal and should be treated with respect, usually through quite a sharp bite although if you make too much noise because of it she is likely to spook. Siren isn't really one for showing off. In the pasture she is the one who will stand back while the others try to make themselves look the best but when it comes to things that are really competitive she jumps right in there. The obvious thing here, of course, is racing. Siren loves to run, loves to feel the wind in her mane and the ground moving beneath her hooves but this is made all the better when she has a chance to do it against someone else. She has a lot of speed on her side, but her stamina is lacking compared to some of the foals who have been bred for longer distances. Siren has a tendency to form rivalries, and when this happens she can become all the more competitive. However, be careful not to let her get too close to those rivals off of the track - unless, of course, you want to risk her injuring herself by starting a fight.
Pedigree: Shiver Me Timbers x Blood of the Angel
Pedigree Comments: This is a filly bred for the sprinting circuit over both surfaces. Her sire, Shiver Me Timbers, was a well known Grade One racer who raced at several tracks. He never won any of the biggest races, but he did place third in the prestigious Breeder's Cup Sprint in year 6. However, his foals have gone on to become strong racers themselves - he has six foals, including Siren, and three of them are racing. Among his foals, three year old Aquatic Addiction and now retired Grade Two Buccaneer are perhaps his best known, however lightly raced Prideful Limits is certainly one to keep an eye on. Shiver Me Timbers is from unknown stock, and so further comment on his line cannot be made. Blood Of The Angel is a broodmare who was never raced herself and some feel she is less because of this. However, her first foals (now three years old) are certainly showing her bloodline to have some worth. Twins Tears Of Blood and Tears Of An Angel made a real name for themselves as juveniles. Tears Of Blood reached Grade Three and eight wins before being taken off track in July while Tears Of An Angel made it to Grade Two. She has no other foals, but certainly has the potential to be a strong broodmare.
Siblings: Tears Of An Angel (G1), Buccaneer (G2), Aquatic Addiction (G2), Tears of Blood (G2), Prideful Limits (G3), Optimus Unstoppable (G5), Engraved in Blood (G5), Palisades Pirate (M), Hellfire (P)

Racing Style: Despite an initial nervousness around the contraption, Siren has settled with the gates and no longer has a huge issue with them. She is happy to approach them and will enter with only a little hesitation. When the shutters close she becomes fidgety and will show signs of being uncomfortable however this is something that training will be able to rectify. When it comes to an actual race Siren is not the horse who jumps straight into the lead or falls to the back. She is a horse who will settle in the main group of horses, who is easily forgotten about as the race progresses. Her tactics vary dependent on many factors in the race, but thankfully she seems to be quite responsive to what her jockey asks so she is unlikely to become trapped behind other horses with no idea of what to do. While she doesn't shine much at the beginning of a race, Siren really comes into her own toward the end. She starts to pick up her pace earlier than the closers, and will start to reduce the gap between herself and the front runners, but doesn't really hit her full potential until the final stretch. A single crack of the crop is all it takes and Siren is off like a rocket, she has a lot of speed and great acceleration which she uses to close the field, with every horse she draws head to head with just being more motivation and those who are ahead of her the next challenge. She sees this as a game, but is very competitive and does not like to lose so is very determined in the late stages of a race. Of course, Siren does not win all of the time but once she has lost to a horse she does not easily forget.
