Sweet MimosaHorse Information
Registered Number: 1415
Nickname: Osa
Age: Yearling (Y13)
Breed: Thoroughbred
Colour & Markings: Black
Height: 16.2 hands
Gender: Filly
Personality: Osa is a perfect combination of sweet, sassy and fierce in the barn. Unlike her mother, Osa takes to people within seconds of meeting them. Osa is relaxed and attentive around people she likes, loves to be groomed and hates to be left behind. She gets antsy when everyone leaves for the races and loves to remain in the herd. The black filly is gorgeous and strong. She has a big heart and a ton of courage. She would run through a wall if she was asked to. She loves to run and loves the challenge of being trained, and like her dam has the smoothest action when out on the track. She takes to both the turf and dirt, but her movement and stride is so much more impressive on the turf. She is a cocky queen and an attention getter once she's on the track. She'll prance and dig, bow her neck and let out a swift buck. She won't scream like her dam or cower like her sire. Osa is her own filly and proud of it. Osa just begs for the attention, and she catches the attention of the media and fans pretty easily. She relishes a fight and actually searches for one. She seems to perform better if there's adversity, actually. If she doesn't get a fight, the coal black filly will wait for her competitors to catch up and challenge. Her times come out slower than they would if she were dueling down the stretch. Osa is not out to impress anyone in her run. She is all entertainer and a very good one at that.
Pedigree: Sweeto Cheeto x Screaming Mimi
Pedigree Comments: Sweeto Cheeto is a grade five stallion who raced over both surfaces, as well as competing in three steeplechases toward the end of his career. He didn't win any races of note, ending with three wins and four places in fifteen starts. Sweeto Cheeto is a first-crop sire, his other Y13 foals being Sweet Silence and Like A Lady. Sweeto Cheeto's sire, Like A Cheetah, retired a grade one racehorse. He was indeed a champion, winning fourteen of fifty-four starts and keeping an overall percentage of 73% in the top three. In his three-year-old season, he captured such prestigious races as the Kentucky Derby and the Breeders' Cup Sprint. As a four-year-old, he took the Summer Cup, Winter Cup, and Breeders' Cup Mile. Other than Sweeto Cheeto, Like a Cheetah also sired Acantha, currently a G5 juvenile, as well as yearlings Like A Runaway and Like A Lioness and weanling Towering Tempest. Like A Cheetah is by Cheesy Louis, out of Special Spot, a mare that had no other foals. Not much is known about the sire. Sweeto Cheeto's dam, Sweet Stalker, was a champion on the track as well as proving to be a good broodmare. She stands in the GHF Hall of Fame. Sweet Stalker reached grade one status, doing little other than breaking her maiden in her juvenile year, but dominating in her three-year-old season. Sweet Stalker won the Seaspray Cup, Spring Cup, Unicorn Horn Dirt, Preakness Stakes, Independence Cup, and Belmont Stakes. Sweet Stalker also foaled Sweet Inferno. Sweet Inferno is currently a grade two racehorse, claiming wins in the Horseshoe Futurity, Belmont Stakes, Climax Cup, and Winter Cup. Her other foal, Biscuit Boy, is a weanling at this time. Sweet Stalker comes from royal lines in her own right, sired by grade one racehorse Night Stalker out of unraced mare Sweet Melody. Night Stalker's biggest win came in the Geronimo Handicap. His record finished an amazing 55 wins in 102 starts and a 91% overall consistency. Night Stalker sired a slew of great racehorses, including grade one Silver Stalker, grade five Carmilla, grade one Knight Rousseau, grade one Silverianna, grade one Eternal Phantom, grade two Midnight Thriller, grade two Stalker's Fury, grade four Ramirez, and grade five GM Halloweentown. He also has yearlings Saintly Touch, Fleet Street, My Man O' War, and Nocturnal Runaway, as well as weanling Night Visions. Sweet Melody never raced, but she foaled two others: grade five Seattle Song and grade one Secret Miracle.
Screaming Mimi is a mare that needs no introduction. A retired grade one racer, this mare won the Debutante Stakes, Oscarianna Stakes, Sassonogen Stakes, Spring Cup, and First Lady Stakes, as well as coming in second in the Breeders' Cup Marathon, Breeders' Cup Turf, Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf, and Dubai World Championship. She finished with 16 wins in 37 starts. Osa will be her first foal. Screaming Mimi is by grade five stallion Crescential out of the fantastic broodmare Requiem. Crescential didn't do much (as far as I can find) on the track, and sired only one other registered foal, the weanling Avarice. Crescential is by unregistered War Child, out of Finale Slew. Though her records were lost, Finale Slew more than proved herself as a broodmare. Other than Crescential, Finale Slew foaled registered foals grade one racehorse and good sire Jazzman, grade four juvenile Alucard, yearling Refute, and weanling Artemis' Glory. On the other hand, Requiem has more than proven herself as a broodmare. Though her record was lost, Requiem reached grade four status before retiring to the breeding shed and gaining GHF Breeding Hall of Fame status. She foaled grade one Deadly Desires, grade five Carmilla, grade one Seraphim, grade three Canjun Moon, grade one Nightshade, and grade five Mourning Passion. Requiem is by legendary stallion Augusto out of the good Rosalind. Augusto also sired registered foals grade four Anodyne, maiden and good sire Bucephalus, grade four Amarillo Sky, and yearling Devil's Flair. Requiem's dam, Rosalind, was a grade five mare that won twice and placed twice out of four starts. She is probably best known for foaling Triple Crown winner Admiral's Revenge, who also went on to be a fantastic sire. She was also the dam of Becephalus, twin to Requiem, grade two mare Admirable, grade one Hokum, and grade five juvenile Acantha.

Race Record: 0-0-0-0
Prospect Record: 1-0-1-0
Consistency: n/a
Dirt: Great
Turf: Great
Distance: 9-12
Leg Type: Preceder
Racing Style: Osa is normally a bullet out of the gate, and had to actually be worked with for awhile after she busted through once - she thought she could just keep doing it, getting to the race as soon as she liked. She settles in behind the leaders, liking to be near others when she's running. If she gets caught on the lead, she slows the pace way down, wanting to feel other horses just behind her. When asked to run for the lead, it only takes a simple wave of the whip and she's off. She's got an incredible turn of foot for a horse that runs just off the lead, and charges forward with European-style acceleration. She puts up her best races when she's challenged the whole way down the stretch - she digs in hard, and loves to win the the race by a nose.
