RefuteHorse Information
Registered Number: 1484
Nickname: Refute
Age: Two (Y12)
Breed: Thoroughbred
Colour & Markings: Bay
Height: 15.3 hands
Gender: Colt
Personality: Despite his parents, this colt is oddly quiet and easy to handle, something some of the other Valkyrie weanlings and horses do not seem to have the capability of being. This colt has a gentle heart and a sweet temper. He loves pretty much all females, though has some issues with males. He can get moody, but never really acts on it - pinning his ears and being somewhat difficult to catch for guys is the worse it gets. Refute is a steady horse and is like a shadow. Aside from his little issues with guys, he doesn't act out at all. In fact, he's an incredibly quick learner. The colt seems to possess a high IQ. His attitude makes him one of the favorites to work with, especially under saddle - he doesn't even act up with guys then. The colt is a sleeper and tends to get on the lazy side, but a lot of the best racehorses have been the same way. If they love the run, they don't need to act like an idiot. The colt is wide in the front and powerful in the haunches, looking like a mirror image of his formerly popular sire. Refute is a careful horse, but he is not spooky. He likes the gate, he likes the rush of horses and the action at the track. He can get a little warm in the paddock and post parade, but usually he is just as cool as a cucumber.
Pedigree: DW Flamekissed x Finale Slew
Pedigree Comments: At first glance, Refute’s pedigree is not much of a standout, but if you dig deeper and glance into Finale Slew, you realize that this plain brown wrapper is a jewel in disguise. His sire, DW Flamekissed, is a half-brother to GM Triumph. DW Flamekissed finished third in the Y6 Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf behind G3 Gorgeous George and future Hall of Famer, The True Nut. He won the Iasis, Kaniska and Desert Prince Stakes and was very consistent, finishing only seven times out of the money in his brief career as a race horse. He has proved formidable in his stud career though not a clear cut standout. His only foal racing is currently Wild Kiss, a grade one race filly for Stride of Perfection Stables. Wild Kiss has won the Y12 Girly Cup, the Grade Four Turf in the GHF Stable Face Off, the Y10 Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, the Fluffy Cup, and the Y11 Unicorn Horn Fillies. Wild Kiss also finished second in the Y11 Preakness Champion Stakes and Y11 Belmont Turf Classic. DW Flamekissed's other filly on the ground is Summer Romance. Summer Romance, like Refute Bound will begin her race career in Year Fourteen. Ground Zero was the latest colt sired by DW Flamekissed. He was born in Year Thirteen and is out of Hall of Fame mare Dare To Dream. On Refute's dam's side, Finale Slew, Refute is related to Crescential, Intuition, Jazzman, Livin' The Jazz, Jazzaway, and Jazzasoleil. Crescential was a grade one race horse who won the MHS Dawn Treader Cup, the Barbaro Stakes and the Pegasus Stakes. He is the sire of grade one winner Screaming Mimi, who finished second in the Year Seven Breeders Cup Marathon and second in the Year Twelve Breeders Cup Turf. Jazzman is a grade one stallion owned by Akita Rose Stable who won the Breeders Cup Mile, two versions of the Seaspray Cup, The Melbourne Cup, and the Autumn Cup. He is the sire of the grade five two year old Livin The Jazz, who finished second in the Unicorn Horn Juvenile Turf, the Magic Millions Colts Turf and third in the Follow the Hoofprints Turf at The Wire. Jazzaway recently broke his maiden for Akita Rose Stables and finished third in the Wire Finish Cup Juvenile Mile. Jazzasoleil is a yearling at this point in time for Nature Blue Stables.
Siblings: Wild Kiss (G1), Jazzman (G1), Alucard (G4), Summer Romance (P), Artemis' Glory (P), Ground Zero (P)

Dirt: Good
Turf: Great
Distance: 8-12
1f extension from Dubai Carnival
Leg Type: Frontrunner
Racing Style: He will always bring his A-game and be more loved for it in the end. Refute can run all day on the front end with his swift economical strides. He doesn't gun for the lead, but settles right into his customary position as if it is a given. Refute is a very mellow-minded racehorse and does not mind giving the jockey the control when it most counts. He won't fight for the lead if challenged, because it seems like being in front isn't worth it to him. Refute runs in a way that almost always guarantee that extra kick in the final furlong and becomes more like his father with every powerful stride into the homestretch.

Race Comments:
On 8f Greasy Giraffe Stakes
"Now he is the one colt I did not want to place last, but could put him nowhere else... A longer distance is surely going to be the key to this horse's success. With a longer distance, there will be less speed and he will be able to just cruise as he pleases." -Ripley
