Summer RomanceHorse Information
Registered Number: 1485
Nickname: Ro
Age: Two (Y12)
Breed: Thoroughbred
Colour & Markings: Bay
Height: 16 hands
Gender: Filly
Personality: Ro is a lot like her sire in conformation and stature. Where her dam, Ashanti, is lean and willowy, Summer Romance is built like a freight train. Her shoulders are made exactly like her sire's, tough and hard as iron. Even though she is young, Ro definitely looks a lot like the boys. She's a bit of a tom boy always purposely rushing the fence and racing the colts. Like her dam, Summer Romance is very high spirited. She needs a chain already and can be a bit of a bully to her human handlers. Ro seems to enjoy being a heartthrob and a flirt. She calls sweetly to the human males and to the stallions on the property. She's a boss everywhere she goes. With such a bossy and charming attitude, Summer Romance is bound to capture a few hearts on and off the track. Because of the filly's body type, we're sure that she will be able to handle the dirt particularly well, as well as the rough-and-tumble boys when the time comes. Her pedigree sure seems to emphasize dirt handling better than turf. Ro is a dynamite filly out on the track, in the paddock, post parade, race, gallop out, winner's circle... She has a brilliant mind and an attitude made for racing. Her eyes watch everything and she virtually demands that everyone take notice of her. She is more like Ashanti and her half-brother Ashes to Ashes in this way. She carries herself with arrogance and confidence and has the tendency to intimidate even the larger of the fillies and colts. A photographer's dream, Summer Romance will stand all day, posing for just the perfect shot. She loves to get out, stretching her legs and is more patient during the running of a race than Ashes was. She is more focused and takes advantage of her cruising stride without being over the top. She is made for the classic distances and seems to have a lot of potential.
Pedigree: DW Flamekissed x Ashanti
Pedigree Comments: Ro's sire DW Flamekissed was a grade five race horse at Green Horse Fields. He was more of a champion because of his own attitude than by breeding. He was a half brother to GM Triumph who was a well known racehorse back in the day. Ashanti was a grade one race horse, but her records were lost and no one is quite sure what she did on the track. Her foals, however, do have records and have been quite solid on the track. Justa Muffin is a grade four stallion owned by Star Thoroughbreds. He showed a particular likeness for turf and was only out of the top three placings five times in his 25 race career. Among his wins were the Preakness Champion Stakes at three and the Prince Cup at four. Ashes to Ashes is an explosive son of Ashanti's that is making a big statement on the track. In Year Twelve the impressive colt went from Maiden to Grade Two in just eleven months. He won the Cigar Mile at age four and later became his dam's first grade one winner. This Means War has not made as big a claim as Ashes on the racetrack, though he has been fairly consistent. Ashanti also is dam to Burning Blitz, a colt running for In Stride Racing.
Siblings: Wild Kiss (G1), Ashes to Ashes (G1), This Means War (G4), Justa Muffin (G4), Refute (M), Ground Zero (P), Burning Blitz (P)

Racing Style: Ro is pretty patient and easygoing when it comes to the gates. She settles in while other horses are loaded, seeming not to really care about them or the confined space. When the gates open, she doesn't break the fastest, but she's generally not the slowest either - this puts her off the pace where she likes to settle pretty easily. She plows along like an immovable train, and even other horses bouncing into or off of her doesn't faze her or cause her to break stride for more than a second. She's pretty placid for most of the race - until she's asked to put on the backburners. The filly doesn't need to be asked twice, and coming out of the far turn she's beginning to surge, powerful strides carrying her forward in a flashy manner. She runs with ease, and never seems to be trying especially hard, even when she clenches the victory in a show-stopping charge. After the race, she always looks like she's ready to go again - it's just the type of horse she is.
