Amarillo SkyHorse Information
Registered Number: 1621
Nickname: Rillo
Age: Five (Y9)
Breed: Thoroughbred
Colour & Markings: Dark Bay
Gender: Stallion
Height: 17 hands
Personality: Rillo is by far the most aggressive horse at Valkyrie. And it isn't just because he's a stallion, though that's surely part of it - no, he's just got a bad attitude and worse manners, passed down from his sire. He has a mind of his own and he absolutely hates being told what to do, though that can be said of most dominant-minded stallions. This big colt can be downright nasty, really - biting, kicking, basically anything he can think of to get him out of what he doesn't want to do. Even when he's doing something he wants to be doing, he's pushy and unpleasant. Really, the only thing they can find that he likes to do is compete. He's ornery during workouts unless he has other horses to fight against. He doesn't even seem to enjoy being turned out, because he gets bored on his own, making him in an even worse mood when they go to bring him in. For races, Rillo has to be saddled in a pen away from other horses and people, otherwise he's constantly screaming out challenges and overall just looks for a fight. He's slightly better around mares and fillies than stallions, but the second they challenge him, better hold him tight. For the post parade, Rillo has to be taken out last, otherwise things get out of hand. Really, it's a wonder the stallion is able to race efficiently at all, but he somehow enjoys beating other horses more than fighting with his rider. The only person, as far as the staff have found, that can easily manage this rough stallion is Hal. She's always had a strange way with aggressive stallion, but with Rillo it's almost ridiculous. He is almost ridiculously good for her, though he'll lash out at anyone else that comes close. They can't explain it, but they're hoping it'll make a difference in his future performance.
Pedigree: Augusto x Sweet Catomine
Bloodlines: Augusto is a Legendary stallion. He raced on Fathom and Major Horse Shows and won many prestigious awards. He was a violent and talented grade one racehorse. Augusto also sired registered foals grade four Anodyne, grade four and good producer Requiem, maiden and good sire Bucephalus, and yearling Devil's Flair.
Sweet Catomine is an unraced broodmare, and Rillo is her only foal.

Leg Type: Frontrunner
Racing Style: Rillo loads fairly well into the gate, but should be loaded last if at all possible. The longer he's in, the more likely he is to react to the surrounding horses. When the gates open, the big horse generally breaks cleanly and heads for the front. With his aggressive nature, the frontrunner position is the safest both for him and the other horses. He's never caused any problems during a race, but the staff want to keep it that way. And anyway, Rillo is fairly effective in the front spot. As long as he isn't challenged, he won't fight his rider. If he is challenged, he'll fight like mad to get the lead, though Hal has gotten to the point she can talk sense into him some of the time. He doesn't react much to pace-pressers, as he seems to be able to tell when he's actually being challenged. So unless a horse is actually drawing alongside trying to get by him, he won't get worked up or go any faster than he wants to. That said, when horses start roaring up in the stretch, the stallion reacts with gusto, digging in and giving all he's got with a don't-take-no-for-an-answer attitude. He doesn't let up until he's asked to slow, and he might fight even that until he's too tired to resist anymore. If running just a little longer will hold off the masses, he'll do what it takes.
